Shaker cards & layout

Last week when I was at home, I got kinda bored on Fri. so I tried these shaker cards from Sisterhood of Scrap. I also made the "U Rock" card on Fri. night because my kids went to a movie with their cousins. I actually made it as a thank-you card for my bil for taking them to the movie. Then, on Saturday, I saw a sketch on Sisterhood's website and I made the layout below for it. The journaling says "I caught Josh doing this with the hose one Oct. afternoon & I just had to take a picture! He didn't know I was there so this was a completely innocent, candid &, hopefully later, blackmail shot! 2008" Thanks for looking!

Project 365: Week 3

Day 20:

I took a picture of my school watching the Inauguration. We all ended up in one room (minus 6 Kindergartners) and I thought it was amusing that my whole school watched such a historic day all together in one room.

Day 21:

Josh lost his second tooth!

Day 22:

This was how I spent my sick day. The dr. told me to stay home until Monday so Andrew pretty much tied me down and confined my to bed. That's okay cause I really didn't want to do much anyway.

Day 23:

I got some kind of crafting streak and I made these cards that I found on this website. I will post the other stuff I made later.

Day 24:
We went to the park and even though Andrew told me I shouldn't go, but I wanted to get out of the house.

Day 25:

We went to the park again but this time we came home early due to "owies." Josh got hurt on the swings because he was trying to jump off the swing when it was headed toward the ground. Here he is crying and then putting on band aids. His leg ended up having a cast of band aids when he was done!

Random Questions from Sisterhood of Scrap

Today is Text Thursday at Sisterhood of Scrap and since I'm at home sick I thought I would take the time to answer these random questions from their site:

1. What color are your socks you have on now? Actually, right now I'm in bare feet :-)
2.Who was the last person you talked to on the phone? My husband - he was calling to make sure I was okay - such a nice guy!
3. What did you have for lunch today? I had a bowl of Cheerios for lunch.
4.Name someone you admire. I admire my husband because lately he's been both Mom & Dad because I've been sick. I also admire him because he takes care of the kids during the day and then he goes to work at night and even though he doesn't have the greatest night job, he does it to help out our family and because it works for us right now.
5. How many cars have you owned? We have owned 5 cars
6.How many homes have you lived in? I have lived in 6 homes, if you count my parent's house and the apartment we moved into when we moved to AZ.
7.Are you left-handed or right-handed? right-handed
8.Do you wear shoes around the house? sometimes but usually I walk around in socks or sometimes my slippers.
9. What was the last thing you took a photo of? The last thing I took a picture of was for my Project 365 and it was all the students in my school (minus 6 kindergartners) in one classroom watching the Inauguration. I thought it was funny that my whole school (teachers & staff included) could fit into one classroom.
10. Do you like hot chocolate? I love hot chocolate! Especially the chocolate part!

Project 365: Week 2

Day 12:

We had a lady come to our school for a Mineral Museum. It was very interesting to say the least! The teachers all got these great boxes with a ton of stuff in them. The lady was a very interesting presenter and I will just leave it at that. Dino poop anyone?

Day 13:

The new season of American Idol - and they started in Phoenix!
Very bad picture by the way, sorry! It's Ryan Seacrest in front of the Grand Canyon.

Day 14:

Andrew's sister made fried tacos on New Year's Eve and he wanted to try them. So on his night off, we made fried tacos. They don't look healthy from the picture - and I'm sure they weren't - but they were good!

Day 15:

I taught my students how to play Racko. This was one of my favorite games that I played with Lindsay when we were little. I was amazed they didn't know how to play it. They loved the game! And as you can see, my school owns a very old version of it!

Day 16:

We had a "sleepover" in our living room. We blew up the air mattress and I let the kids stay up late and watch movies in the living room. This is Josh introducing our movie (13 going on 30). The movie theater in our town, has someone come in and introduce the movies to the audience and they say "If you have any questions, please find someone in a red vest." Then they tug on their vests. So we started being funny at home and doing it before we watch movies and this was Josh doing that.

Day 17:

Josh lost his first tooth!

Day 18:

The kids had a sleepover at Aunt Ann's. She offered and we didn't refuse! We went to see a late night showing of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It was a good movie but too long! I think we were the very last people to leave the theater!

Day 19:

Andrew was getting ready to go to work and he got about 1/2 way down the street when he called me and said "Come look at what I got for free." I went into the garage and he had gotten this lawnmower for free! Last week he got a desk - for free - he is on a roll!

So here's my second week of my Project 365. I'll be back next week with more!

First scrapbook pages

Here are my first scrapbook pages of the New Year - woo-hoo!! Sisterhood of Scrap has two challenges on their site and here are my pages for both of them:

This first page was made using the Saturday Sketch from Sisterhood's site. The journaling says: "When we go back to IL to visit, I try to convince my mom & my sister to go to scrapbook classes with me. I usually win & when we go it's scrappin' heaven!"
This first one was to scrapbook a list. My list was sort of a recipe for a photoshoot because everytime I turn on my camera, I have a few random pictures that I didn't take. These are a few of them. The journaling says: 1. Borrow Mommy's camera 2. Pose for self portrait 3. Ask brother to pose for picture 4. Act silly 5. Have fun!
I have been trying to scan in my pages because it seems like I can never get a good picture. Our scanner, however, is 8.5 x 11 so I have been having to use a stitchin program and I am really not liking the one I downloaded. It continues to curve the edges. Not sure if it's normal but it's pretty annoying. If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate them. Thanks for looking!

Project 365

My first post of the New Year is about my resolution for 2009. My resolution is to take a picture every day and hopefully, scrapbook them as the year goes by. I have seen similar projects around on the Internet so it sounds like it's a popular resolution. It is a big undertaking but I've been successful for 11 days and I hope I can keep it up. Here are the pictures for days 1-11:

Day 1

Our first picture of 2009

Day 2:

Andrew's brother visited from Nebraska and we all met at Famous Dave's for lunch

Day 3:

Our couches needed to be cleaned so we spent Saturday cleaning our house and we rented a Rug Doctor.

Day 4:

This was the time I went to bed on the night before going back to school. My alarm was set and I was ready (sort of) to go back.

Day 5:

Our Christmas stuff was reduced to one tub :-(

Day 6:

Chris & Lanette stayed with us and Julianna & Hannah had fun playing together.

Day 7:

We had a cookout at Andrew's sister's house since a lot of the family was visiting. We also celebrated Ann's birthday that night. She could either be 21 or 19, so she chose to be 219 yrs old :-)

Day 8:

Josh is waiting for the bus on Thursday. I had to drive to work so Andrew walked him to the bus stop. Hannah was still sick so the little guy had to ride by himself. He had fun though and he loved it!

Day 9:

On Monday, Hannah had an ear infection and on Friday, we found out she had pneumonia. She missed a whole week of school last week :-(

Day 10:

Andrew's brother Nick and his son Oliver came over to our house to visit and Oliver wanted me to play video games with him. This kid was absorbed with our V-smile for like 4 hours. It was cute.

Day 11:

This was actually taken very early on Sunday morning. Hannah started having an allergic reaction to her pneumonia medicine. We called the pediatrician and she said to go ahead and take her to the ER. The ER was especially for kids and after seeing the doctor, he gave her some Benadryl and we were on our way. Hannah slept until noon today!

Hope you enjoy the pictures. I am going to try to make a post every Sunday for this project so maybe it will be a little more manageable if I do it a week at a time. What's your resolution?
