I made this layout for one of Sisterhood of Scrap's January challenges. There are 12 this month so if you are feeling the need to be challenged - join us! This challenge was to use chocolate covered paper in honor of Willy Wonka's trademark being registered on Jan. 4, 1972.

I used a template from No Reimer Reason. I made this page for the current Shabby Princess Template Challenge. Be sure you check it out so you can join in! If you haven't tried digital scrapping it really is as easy as dropping your papers & clipping them to the shapes. Shabby Princess has done all the amazing work for you! I also entered this in Sisterhood of Scrap's Nov. challenges. This was for "Banana Pudding Month" so our LO had to be mainly yellow. Baby bath time

I did this layout for a couple of different challenges. Crop Suey's monthly challenge was to scrap about yourself. I used a couple of my baby pictures I found. The other challenge was at Sisterhood of Scrap from Lois & it was to use chipboard on your page. I used chipboard frames and a tag at the bottom. The tags were originally white glitter & I colored them with my colorbox queue. I used the lavender-ish color. Thanks for looking!

I found this on Pinterest from Meg Duerksen's blog. Pretty cool idea! You just hot glue the crayons down & then use a hair dryer to melt them. They start to melt pretty quickly. I actually used my heat gun because it felt like the hair dryer was blowing the wax too much. Thanks for looking!

After having most of June to do the wedding themed challenges at Sisterhood of Scrap, I finally got down to finishing some of them. I such a procrastinator! Here are the challenges I’ve completed (all products are from Shabby Princess):

A layout & a card

This layout is for a challenge at Sisterhood of Scrap. The challenge was to use something from Dr. Seuss for his birthday which was Mar. 2nd. I took the happy sections (LOL) from Oh! The Places You'll Go! and wrote them out into journaling. I also highlighted specific sentences by using different stickers. The sticker that says "Life is short, stay awake for it." is actually off of a coffee mug wrapper. That quote so suits my son!! He never stops!This next card is for another challenge at SOS. This was in honor of Alexander Graham Bell's birthday which was on Mar. 3. The challenge was to mail a card to someone. I also used a Sat. card challenge from SOS to layer something & pop it up with dimensionals. I am sending this card to my grandma in Texas with pictures of my kids inside.

This page was done for a few different challenges. The first challenge was at Scrap it Forward & it was to use the word "lucky" in your title and make your LO mostly green. The second challenge was at Crop Suey & that was to use tape on your page. I followed the directions that Stacy from the Crop Suey DT had linked to this video on her blog. It was a pretty neat & easy technique. I did it the other day to make the tape in the last picture. I used a cardstock bookmark the first time & it took a little longer. The 2nd time I used magazine paper & it was much easier. The third challenge was at Sisterhood of Scrap and it was for Colleen's March challenge. Her challenge was to have something flying, have an animal & make your LO mostly green. Thanks for looking!!

Recent digital layouts

Here are some digital layouts that I've completed in the last month. Most of them were for Sisterhood of Scrap challenges. If you're looking for some inspiration, check us out. We've had a great January, a very busy February & I'm sure March will be no different! All of these were done using different components of Shabby Princess kits.

This is my grandpa & grandma's wedding picture. Isn't her dress pretty? Eventhough this was taken in 1955, I still think her dress is very timeless.

This is my neice and this layout was done for one of the Saturday sketches at SOS. I edited the picture a little in Photoshop by blurring the background.

This is a picture of my kids & my neice & nephews. My sister & I took pictures of the grandkids for my mom's 50th birthday in November. I was pretty proud of myself because my sister had to sign a copyright release when she went to print them out. That means the pictures were so good, they thought they were professional photos. Yay me!!

This is a digital template that came in a kit I downloaded from Shabby Princess. It was so nice because I just popped my papers in & added some journaling.

This is my daughter at one of the parades in my town. We have taught our kids to put their hand on their hearts when the flag goes by & I think this shot is just so cute. This was also blurred a little in Photoshop.

Christmas projects

Here are some Christmas projects I've been working on. They were so much fun, besides the fact my sister started calling me "Martha Stewart" because every time I saw her I was doing a different craft :)

Bird feeders for the winter. Peanut butter and birdseed
on a pinecone.

Whisks with hershey kisses in them. The tags say "We 'whisk' you a merry Christmas!"
These are for the kids' teachers.

Quilled Christmas card. I found the idea here.

Candy cans. I got this idea from Colleen, one of the sisters on SOS. I took a soup can with the pull of lid, cleaned it out, and took the label off. Then I decorated it & put candy inside. Final step was to glue the tab lid back on. I'm planning on putting these in stockings.

Recycled gift tags. I punched out images from the store circulars and added cardstock to the back. Green, easy & cheap. Right up my alley!!

Folded paper Christmas tree ornaments. Idea found here.

Quilled Snowflakes. I got the patterns from a JoAnns idea card. Once you get the hang of quilling, it's pretty easy.

Aug. Sketches

The Sisterhood of Scrap is having an August Sketch Challenge. You can check it out here. I was able to dig through my scrap supplies (because it's all still in boxes) and make these first two pages based on the first two sketches. Of course, when I get my supplies out, my daughter Hannah gets interested and she wanted to make a page too. So, she got to use my new mist and she made a page too. Thanks for looking!

One Month..and then some

It's hard to believe that Zach is already 6 1/2 weeks old. He is changing so quickly! I took him to the dr. for his one month checkup and he already weighs 10 lbs!! He was also 20 1/2 in. long. He is growing! I'm not sure where it's all going though, because he's still able to fit into some newborn clothes. The first picture is one I took of him when he was 1 month old. The second picture was taken after I went to my aunt's house to pick some zucchini. I found this huge one that was the same size as Zach!! The third picture was taken 2 nights ago when I got him to smile. Andrew has a phrase he says to get Zach to smile but when I say the same phrase, I get no reaction. Go figure. I'm thinkin' he's still a keeper!

So Baby Puccini was born a little unexpectedly on Tues. I went in to have my dr. app. & she sent me straight to the hospital to be monitored. When I got there the dr. on call wanted me to stay because she didn't want me to have the baby at home. I checked in to the hospital at 11:45 am and Zachary Michael was born at 4:04 pm. He weighed 6lbs. 15ozs. and was 19 in. long. Here's some pics from the hospital:

And one last celebration - while the kids were eating dinner in the cafeteria, Grandpa pulled out Josh's tooth!

What's in a name?

This LO is for a challenge that was posted awhile ago at Sisterhood of Scrap. The challenge was to scrap about where your name came from. I intended on doing a paper LO for it but then I was playing around in Photoshop this morning. I was trying to make my own template like Kristina Werner did on her Finally Friday video and I decided to do this challenge. The kit is Promise from Shabby Princess. The buttons came from Vinnie Pearce Punch Elements from 2Peas in a Bucket and the font is called "A Yummy Apology." Thanks for looking!

Oh, I almost forgot - this is a picture of me at 7 mos, and the journaling says: "Stephanie comes from the female version of my dad's name Stephen, Marie was my mom's confirmation name from when she was a child."

Teacher Appreciation

Teacher Appreciat-ion week was last week and I usually try to make a little something for the amazing people I work with. Last year I made post-it note holders and before that, I made them altered clipboards. Today, I was talking to one of the teachers and I noticed she had her clipboard on her desk and it had papers on it :) I was pleased to see that someone was using the gift I had given them almost 3 years ago! So this is what I made them this year: a photo clip and a magnet. Both are very easy to make. I just took a jumbo binder clip and put paper & some other decorations on it. Then, your photo goes in between the metal part. You don't use it as a regular binder clip (I had one teacher who was a little confused by this :) The magnets are clear stones with patterned paper glued to the bottom and a magnet stuck on the back. I also did this for the Scrap it Forward challenge. Thanks for looking!

Celebrating Mothers Blog Hop

It's time for another reveal at Just My Sketches! This time I used the song "Kiss the Girl" by Keith Urban. I also used a picture from my wedding album so it's very loosely on the page. I couldn't seem to find any good pictures of Andrew & me from our wedding. They were all too dark or too grainy. Sorry about the picture quality. This LO is for Helen's blog hop challenge. Her challenge was to dust off your sewing machine & use it on your LO. I was a little reluctant to use mine because I had been having problems with it but, in the end, it worked! I guess it knew I was on a time crunch because I finished this LO with no time to spare! So the stitching is the heart and it's not perfect but it's hard to stitch a heart even when you've drawn it in pencil first! Anyway, thanks for looking!

This LO is for Linda's blog hop challenge. Her challenge was to use paints or at least 3 stamps on your LO. I used these new foam stamps from Making Memories that I got on clearance for 99 cents. Then I stamped them in white paint. I also combined the Monday challenge from Sisterhood of Scrap which was to journal in a unique way. I journaled around the picture. It says "You were such a smiley baby! It was always easy to make you laugh. Your eyes would completely squint shut and they still do when you are really laughing. I love it! You are so cute even as a big boy!" Thanks for looking!

This LO is for Susan's blog hop challenge. Her challenge was to do a paper weaving on you LO. This was a fun technique to do! There is a funny story behind this picture. It was taken at a photo shoot with my parents & niece & nephew's before we moved to AZ. Hannah was not in a good mood that day. I don't know why but that explains her somewhat pouty look in the picture. So to get her to cooperate, we had to bribe her with green flip flops from Wal-Mart. It worked! This LO today was done for Cindy's blog hop challenge. Her challenge was to use at least 3 products that were more than a year old on you LO. The chipboard letters I have had for probably 2 years along with the brads & charms. The blue and green paper, I'm sure, is more than a year old because it was at the bottom of a stack :) I think the background paper is more than a year old but I'm not sure. Thanks for looking!

I took a rub-on & put it on a coaster and then I cut it out. Bunny leader

I made this layout for a little challenge on a fellow "sister's" blog - Bryar. She had a challenge using the quote "Take me to your bunny leader." I thought it would be perfect with pictures of the kids eating their chocolate bunnies. I actually had this one done last week but I learned the hard way about saving things every 10 seconds! I think I made it too complicated, so this one I made much simpler! Hope you enjoy!

I haven't done a layout without pictures so I tried another digital page for this one. I used another Shabby Princess kit. This time I used the Spontaneous Delight Aug 2008 kit. 24 weeks

I was 24 weeks on Sunday. Today we had another ultrasound today because my nurse practioner ordered it. She said they didn't get a good picture of the face and the heart so we went to a specialist today. No worries though, everything is just great. Little "Ralphie" as Andrew has named him, or "Michael Scott" (inside joke) smiled at us and even stuck his tongue out at us. The technician said everything looked great. The picture from 18 weeks is here if you want to look at it.

St. Patrick's Day box

This box was the latest sample from UHU glue. I decorated it with the things they sent me and also some beads I had in my stash on the top of the box. I used the UHU glue stick to put the paper on the side and my UHU twist & glue for the shamrocks and beads. I also used this for the March green challenge #6 at Sisterhood of Scrap. You had to use a shamrock in your project. Thanks for looking!

I fnished my first digital page today. It started out very confusing and then I watched a video tutorial on Shabby Princess and it really helped. The kit I used is the March 2008 Promise kit from the same website. I actually liked digital scrapping although I know my paper page would've been done way before the digital page was. I want to continue making digital pages mainly because I wouldn't have to print pictures. So on to the page...I made this page for the March green challenges at Sisterhood of Scrap. This challenge was to show your green thumb. Since my mom didn't give me one (I kill pretty much any plant I get), I did the page of her green thumb and her sunflowers. Enjoy!

One-hour Challenge

Tonight there was a one-hour sketch challenge on the Sisterhood of Scrap forum. Tonight's challenge was a scraplift and you had to use something recycled on your page. I love these one-hour challenges because they go so quick and it's a little bit of a rush to get things done. All I knew beforehand was that we needed one picture and at least one recycled item. I found some bread tags last night in the kitchen and decided that would be recycled item. As for the picture and the paper, that was a last minute decision. Here is my LO. Thanks for looking!

I'm a little late in posting my recipe for Carla's recipe carnival but I realized this recipe would work since we are having it tomorrow night. This week's theme was Meat dishes. My recipe is called BBQ Cups. It's a 4 ingredient recipe from a book by almost the same title. I got the book from my granny for my wedding and it has been a wonderful little cookbook since all the recipes have only 4 ingredients.

1 lb lean ground beef
1/2 c barbecue sauce
1 can refrigerator biscuits
3/4 c grated cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Brown meat, drain. Add barbecue sauce and set aside. Place biscuits in ungreased muffin cups, pressing dough up sides of edge of cup. Spoon meat mixture into cups. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake for 12 minutes. Serves 4 to 5.

It's time for another reveal at Just My Sketches. This time I chose the song "No Surprise" by Chris Daughtry. I also took the sketch and flipped it so I could use these pictures. I took them when we were back visiting Illinois for Christmas. The girls had a day out on Monday and we went to the new chipmunks movie. Hannah and Madison (cousins) were hilarious in the theater. The dryers in the bathroom cracked them up because they were loud and very strong. They had such a blast at the movie. We couldn't find 5 chairs together so they got to be big girls and sit in front of my mom, me and my sister. It was so much fun! UHU Valentine Box

I was sent this little box to decorate from UHU glue. I used the permanent glue dot runner to attach the paper. I love this dot runner! It works so wonderfully. Not stringy and it keeps things in place. I inked the edges a bit then, I did some stamping for the front of the box. I attached the gems with the UHU Twist & Glue. Great little box for treats!

or Tuesday if you're sick & have to call your Mom for the recipe :) So yesterday Carla's theme was snacks and Chex Mix has always been a favorite with us. So after calling my mom to get the recipe, here it is:

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
1 stick (1/2 c.) melted butter
1 1/4 tsp. seasoned salt
4 1/2 tsp. worchestire sauce
Mix together.
Now for the next part my mom takes a big measuring cup/bowl and layers the following ingredients in the order listed:
1 c. peanuts
1 c. pretzels
8 c. Chex mix (any variety you wish)

Pour the dry ingredients into a pan and stir to mix. The pan should be larger than 9x13 or there won't be enough room to mix. Cook at 15 min. intervals (stop every 15 min. to mix) for 1 hour. Enjoy!

Here is the page I made for the sketch. I was inspired by the song "Blessed" by Elton John. The lyrics mainly inspired me because they talked about "not knowing the color of your eyes" but knowing you would be blessed. So I used more ultrasound pics from Baby #3. I wrote out the lyrics and put them on the hidden journaling slipped behind the striped paper.

Make It Monday

Today's theme on Carla's blog is: Breakfast. So my contribution is a recipe I found on cooks.com for Bisquick Butter Chunk Cinnamon Rolls.

1/4 c. cold butter
2 1/2 c. Bisquick (or any brand) baking mix
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
2 tbsp. butter, softened
3 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Glaze

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Grease square pan, 8x8x2. Cut cold butter into 1/4" cubes. Toss baking mix and cubes until coated. Beat milk and egg; stir into butter mixture. Turn dough onto cloth-covered board generously dusted with baking mix; roll to coat. (I just used my counter covered in baking mix and it worked fine)

Fold and knead 10 times; roll into rectangle, 15"x8". Spread with soft butter. Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over dough. Roll up tightly, beginning at 15" side. Pinch edge into roll. Cut into 12 slices with sharp knife. Place cut sides down in pan.

Bake until golden, 15 minutes; cool 15 minutes. Drizzle with glaze. Makes 1 dozen rolls.

For the glaze, I used 1/4 c. powdered sugar & 2 tsp. warm water.

Today is "Make It" Monday on Carla's blog. She is also one of the sisters from Sisterhood of Scrap. On Monday's she has a blog carnival where she posts a theme for recipes. Then you post a recipe on your blog. Today's theme is cookies and my recipe is "Quick-Mix Chocolate Cookies." Here's the recipe:

1 box chocolate cake mix (the recipe originally called for Devil's Food, but we made it with chocolate first and liked it)
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1/4 c. sugar

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix cake mix, oil, vanilla, and eggs until dough forms. Shape dough into 1 in. balls, roll in sugar. On an ungreased baking sheet, place balls about 2 in. apart. Bake 10-12 min or until set. Cool 1 min. Remove from baking sheet to cooling rack, cool 30 min (we like them best warm though).

Here is a page I made waaaay back in November for a One-hour sketch challenge at Sisterhood of Scrap. The sketch was posted at a certain time and then you had one hour to finish it. After that, you had 20 minutes to upload it to their site. I haven't printed pictures in awhile, so this was the picture I used on short notice. The journaling says "This is the first picture we have of number 3. Baby Puccini should arrive sometime late July, but for now, I am savoring the feeling of new life. Nov. 21, 2009" Of course I couldn't share this LO anywhere else but the forum because we hadn't told anyone yet. So now that people know, I'm sharing it here. Everybody is really excited! Enjoy the page!

Glue with UHU Dec. Project

This month's project from UHU was to make magnets with glass beads using UHU Twist & Glue. These are the beads that have flat bottoms that you can put in vases. It was a pretty simple project too. The fun part was selecting the images I was going to use. I picked out some small stickers, rub-ons & images from scrapbook paper, then tested them under the bead to see what they would look like. Then, I put the UHU Twist & Glue on the back and stuck it to the paper. It did slide a little, but that was easily solved by holding the bead in place for a few seconds. I let them dry overnight. The next night, I trimmed the paper off with scissors. I used a file to sand down some of the pointed corners. Then, I glued the magnet on the back. Very easy project! Also, being a teacher, these would make great gifts for teachers and just about anyone else with a refrigerator :)

My favorite has to be the snail. Isn't he cute?

This page was done for the latest Pagemaps contest. I thought it would be a great sketch for Andrew to follow to scrapbook a picture from his trip to New York this past summer. I fully expected to be able to sit next to him and watch him and help him but I quickly found out that I needed to leave to room or else I was going to end up doing it for him :-) His journaling says: "This summer I spent 10 days in New York. We ministered to some of the nation's poorest neighborhoods! We also had some sight-seeing days. My favorite was the time we spent at Times Square and going to a Broadway play!" Thanks for looking!

Cards for my Secret Santa

I started making some cards tonight in preparation for the Secret Santa drawing at work. I thought one of the gifts I could give her would be a package of "all occasion" cards.

I hope I get a woman, anyway, I don't know what I'll do if I get a guy. Homemade treats are always good for a guy I guess. The only guy I'd get would be my principal and I don't think he'd want a package of all occasion cards. Ha!!

Sorry for the poor picture quality. I took these at night so the flash washed everything out. The first card says Thinking of you ...on your birthday. It has several options to choose from. The second one says "Have your cake..." then on the inside I put "& eat it too."

UHU Glue samples

I received 2 UHU Glue samples in the mail recently. They sent me the samples for free in exchange for my opinion about their products. Here are some of the projects I made with my samples:

This is the first sample I got. It is the UHU permanent glue roller. You can read more about it here but instead of a tape, it delivers mini glue dots when you roll it on.

This is one of the projects I made with it. I made these tags by covering a playing card with white cardstock then with the patterned paper. Then, I decorated them. I used the glue roller to attach the pp to the cardstock & the embellishments to the pp.

Another LO I made with help from the glue roller. On this LO I used the roller to attach my letters to the page and the ribbon strip at the bottom, and the patterned journaling circle. It was nice to use on the letters because they are so small.

My opinion: I liked the roller for small paper objects like my letters and such. I did find that if you were gluing something heavier, it may not stick. Also gluing to certain surfaces may not stick. For example: the playing card was slick and it didn't stick very well to it. I also liked that I could pick up my object after laying it down. The ribbon strip at the bottom of my LO needed to be moved a few times so it was nice it wasn't completely permanent right away. I also liked that it wasn't stringy. When the roller stopped, the glue stopped. I also liked the adjusting screw at the back so you could tighten the roll if it became loose (mine never did).

The next sample I received was the UHU glue stick and a 6x9 mini clipboard to alter. You can read more about it here.

My opinion: This glue stick is colored so you can see when it starts to dry which is nice so you can go back over parts. Mine seemed to dry quickly but it could've been because I had the fan on or because we live in an extremely dry climate. I was also able to adjust my paper after I put it down but once again you have to work quick because this glue does stick!! There is no peeling it up after a few seconds! I have seen so many glue sticks that peel right up a few days afterwards but this doesn't seem like it will do that.

Lunch Time

This LO was done for 3 challenges this week. One of the challenges is from Sisterhood of Scrap's weekly challenge. It was to do a LO with black, red & white. Another challenge came from Scrapping out LOUD! & their challenge this week was to use the theme "time." I made the clock on my page & it has Hannah's lunch time from first grade on it (since the pictures are from last year). And the final challenge came from Scrap It Forward. Their challenge was to do a "girlfriend" LO in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. You can't tell in the picture but Hannah is sitting with 2 girlfriends that happen to be in her class again this year & she is good friends with both of them. I blurred the faces because there are a lot of kids in these pictures & you just never know who's going to see them on the Internet.

Now the second part of Scrap It Forward's challenge was to collect the pink Yoplait lids & promise to send them in to the company. So here is a picture of the flyer & the envelope that I'm going to leave in the teacher's lounge at work to collect lids from everyone there. Thanks for stopping by!

Treasured moments

This page did double duty for me today. Scrapping out LOUD's challenge for the week was to use naked chipboard. I used chipboard photo corners & little extra pieces in between the pictures. At first I was good with leaving them naked. Then, when I went to do the journaling I kept thinking "I could write or draw on the chipboard" and I had to keep reminding myself not to touch it! This was also for the Sisterhood of Scrap's "soup" challenge. This week's "soup" was Chicken Noodle Soup. The recipe was: -Add some striped paper (noodles) -Shades of yellows( chicken) -Brown ink (chicken broth). Thanks for looking! Enjoy!

Cards, cards and more cards

I've been in the card making mood lately I guess. Here are some cards I made for the Sisterhood of Scrap World Card Making Day, which was on the 3rd. On this first card, the challenge was to use a pink bow.On this second card, the challenge was to make a square card and put a butterfly and a heart somewhere on the card. The butterfly I added has a magnet on the back and I attached it to the card with some removable adhesive. That way, the recipient can put it on their fridge. I got the butterfly idea from Dawn Griffith.
This next card was a "Flower Child" challenge. You had to use flowers and twine on the card. I saw a card similar to this at the Creating Keepsakes vendor fair that Hannah & I went to but of course I couldn't remember exactly what it looked like so this is the closest I got.
On this next card, you had to use numbers in your title.

This last card was for the "Thankful" challenge and you had to used an orange button, stitching (real or faux), orange patterned paper and the thankful theme.
This card I made after seeing Kristina Werner's Make A Card Monday. It was a very simple card and I thought I could do something similar pretty easily. This is just a random card and not for any challenge.

This next card is for the Sisterhood of Scrap Saturday Soup challenge for Oct. 10th. The soup theme was "pea soup." The recipe was: 1 animal embellishment (for the ham bone!), orange ribbon (for the carrots), 6 green buttons (for the celery), 3 different green pp (for the peas), some black and white of some sort (for the salt and pepper). You could do a LO or a card but I seem to be stuck on cards so here's what I came up with:

I wanted to share this cookie recipe that I made 3 times last week. I made them last Sunday and they were so popular at my house, I think they were gone in about 15 min. I made them again on Mon. or Tues. night (I can't remember) and again on Wed. night for my class/co-workers at school. Whew! I got the idea from a Betty Crocker e-mail and that one called for Devils Food Cake Mix but Andrew accidentally got chocolate and my recipe was born. Here is the recipe in case you want to try them:

1 box chocolate cake mix

1/3 c. oil (plus about 1 tbsp.)

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

1/4 c. sugar

Preheat oven to 350. Mix first 4 ingredients and form into 1 in. balls. Roll in sugar. Place on cookie sheet and bake 8-10 min. Let cool. Enjoy!

These were for their "Back to School Challenge" and they had to be done by the 26th so did them both on Sat. morning. Whew! The first page was for a challenge to use brackets or parentheses on your page. The second page was to use a mix of letters for your title. Tire Swing

I made this page for Sisterhood of Scrap's Back to School Crop. This was their
"Reduce" challenge. The guidelines were:

~ use 1 piece of paper for your background (12x12, 8x8, or 8.5x11)
~any number of photos
~2 pieces of cs or pp, or a mix of both (each 6x6 in size, you may leave these as is, or cut or alter them any way you wish)
~letter stickers for the title
~4 embellishments (they can be the same, or any mixture)
~2 types of technique medium (pens for doodling, ink, chalk, shimmerz, Glimmer mist, etc)

I used 2 flowers and 2 buttons as my embellishments and Stickles and a white gel pen as my doodling medium. This was a challenge but fun! Thanks for looking!

Sketch book

Kristina Werner posted a video on how to make your own sketch book for her Make A Card Mon. yesterday. So, I decided to try my own. I don't do a lot of sketches but today on the way to & from school I made 3! I made my boxes square (to resemble a 12x12 scrapbook page) in Word and then I just printed them out and ran my paper through the printer the opposite way to make it double sided. You can't tell in the picture but the word "Inspire" is in light blue. Enjoy!

Recycled Object

Here is a LO I did this weekend of my brother, Preston, and my nephew, Aaron. I took this picture when I was back visiting in July. I used the Pagemaps sketch for their current contest. I also did this LO for a Sisterhood of Scrap "soup" challenge. One of the soup ingredients was to use a recycled object. My object can be found on the green paper. I used the empty tape roll from my previous post and did some stamping with it. You also had to use 3 different colors of cardstock (I used gray, white and blue). You had to used patterned paper (mine is the green stamped paper), buttons and ribbon or twine. This LO also works for the Scrapping Out Loud! weekly challenge where you had to use a quote on the page and pick one type of word for you journaling. I chose the quote "We find delight in the beauty and happiness of children that makes the heart too big for the body. Ralph Waldo Emerson" I also chose verbs for my journaling: inspire, dream, live, love, laugh, imagine, grow. I am a total English geek so this challenge was perfect for me! I am amazed I was able to do triple duty this weekend! Thanks for looking!

Re-purposing

I found these items over the last week or so and since "going green" is all the rage, I have decided see if I can reuse them. Starting at the bottom left they are: a large tic-tac container, an Orbit gum package, an Icebreaker container, a plastic tape roll, a coaster from a restaurant (I made my husband grab them from the table :), and a Stride gum package. This page was made for the current contest at the Mix It Up! blog. You were to use these colors as inspiration and they provided this sketch as well. I took everything pretty literally. These pictures were perfect to cut small squares from. I really like the story behind this page. The journaling says: "The tradition started when I brought home a cardboard mouse as a kid. The mouse would find its way to various places in the house. Now my kids enjoy hiding all kinds of bugs for Grandpa. He enjoys returning the favor! 7-28-09" When we visited Grandma & Grandpa last month we specially packed some "bugs" in our carry-ons for the exact purpose of hiding them under Grandpa's pillow. When my kids woke up Tues. morning, this is what Grandpa had waiting for them. Every time we turned around there was another "animal" waiting for us. And to think it all started with me & a cardboard mouse when I was 8! Such a fun family tradition to remember! Thanks for looking!

This page is for Scrapping Out Loud's current contest. The challenge was to rip paper on you LO. These pictures were taken on our vacation to IL. Uncle Preston is the "candy uncle" and he always has candy for the kids. He is mostly known for his candy necklaces but this time he brought out candy rings for the kids. I made this page for the current Pagemaps contest. I love these pictures I took of my nephew Aaron on our vacation this summer! He laughs & smiles so easily. I also used some new grungeboard I bought at the beginning of the summer. It's under the bottom circle picture. I inked it & then put Stickles glue on it. Not sure what the dark shadow is at the bottom. It must be from my scanner. Anyway, enjoy and thanks for looking!
