Mirror Image tool Giveaway!

Hi friends!  I recently ordered the MISTI tool from Unity Stamp Co. and when you order it, you get the mirror image tool for free.  

A couple months ago, I ordered the mirror image tool so that means I have 2 and the awesome peeps at Unity gave me the okay to do a giveaway.  There are several YouTube tutorials for this tool so be sure to check them out for ideas on how to use this tool.  I tried both Angeline's tutorial and Lisa's.  For these cards, I used Lisa's tutorial.  I don't have any black embossing powder (which I'm thinking will be my next purchase) so I used white on the first card & brown on the second.  I used the stamp set I'm Obsessed Birdies for both cards and finished them off with some of Unity's new sequins (which are on sale this weekend!).

I'll admit, I am one that was skeptical about getting a stamp tool because I didn't feel like I'd be able to get my images straight if I couldn't see through them.  However, after trying the MISTI, I can really see the advantages of having this tool.  I really like the fact that you can stamp an image multiple times if you don't get it stamped all the way the first time.  I used to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig tool which was helpful but not if I didn't get an image stamped right the first time.  I could never get it lined up right the second time and ended up wasting cardstock (which I hate!).  I still use the piece of plastic that came with my Stamp-a-ma-jig to double check if my image is lined up correctly.

Socks for Japan

Scrap it Forward is having a contest (ending today - sorry!) that is supporting the victims of the recent earthquake in Japan. Aug. Sketches

The Sisterhood of Scrap is having an August Sketch Challenge. You can check it out here. I was able to dig through my scrap supplies (because it's all still in boxes) and make these first two pages based on the first two sketches. Of course, when I get my supplies out, my daughter Hannah gets interested and she wanted to make a page too. So, she got to use my new mist and she made a page too. Thanks for looking!

Teacher Appreciation

Teacher Appreciat-ion week was last week and I usually try to make a little something for the amazing people I work with. Last year I made post-it note holders and before that, I made them altered clipboards. Today, I was talking to one of the teachers and I noticed she had her clipboard on her desk and it had papers on it :) I was pleased to see that someone was using the gift I had given them almost 3 years ago! So this is what I made them this year: a photo clip and a magnet. Both are very easy to make. I just took a jumbo binder clip and put paper & some other decorations on it. Then, your photo goes in between the metal part. You don't use it as a regular binder clip (I had one teacher who was a little confused by this :) The magnets are clear stones with patterned paper glued to the bottom and a magnet stuck on the back. I also did this for the Scrap it Forward challenge. Thanks for looking!

Celebrating Mothers Blog Hop

At JMS the DT love our moms and to show our appreciation for everything mothers do we are celebrating mothers in our blog hop this week. Here is the sketch and my take on it. I used the song "A Mother's Prayer" by Celine Dion. The journaling is just a copy of the lyrics. The only thing I changed was the use of the word "she" in the lyrics to "them."

Andrew's 1st page...

This page was done for the latest Pagemaps contest. I thought it would be a great sketch for Andrew to follow to scrapbook a picture from his trip to New York this past summer. I fully expected to be able to sit next to him and watch him and help him but I quickly found out that I needed to leave to room or else I was going to end up doing it for him :-) His journaling says: "This summer I spent 10 days in New York. We ministered to some of the nation's poorest neighborhoods! We also had some sight-seeing days. My favorite was the time we spent at Times Square and going to a Broadway play!" Thanks for looking!

Christmas 2008

I made this page for 3 challenges. One of the challenges was for Sisterhood of Scrap, and it was to make your LO glittery. The next challenge was at Scrapping out LOUD! and that was to use an oversized embellishment. Mine would be the Christmas trees. The other challenge was the current Pagemaps sketch. Lunch Time

This LO was done for 3 challenges this week. One of the challenges is from Sisterhood of Scrap's weekly challenge. It was to do a LO with black, red & white. Another challenge came from Scrapping out LOUD! & their challenge this week was to use the theme "time." I made the clock on my page & it has Hannah's lunch time from first grade on it (since the pictures are from last year). And the final challenge came from Scrap It Forward. Their challenge was to do a "girlfriend" LO in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. You can't tell in the picture but Hannah is sitting with 2 girlfriends that happen to be in her class again this year & she is good friends with both of them. I blurred the faces because there are a lot of kids in these pictures & you just never know who's going to see them on the Internet.

Now the second part of Scrap It Forward's challenge was to collect the pink Yoplait lids & promise to send them in to the company. So here is a picture of the flyer & the envelope that I'm going to leave in the teacher's lounge at work to collect lids from everyone there. Thanks for stopping by!

Treasured moments

This page did double duty for me today. Scrapping out LOUD's challenge for the week was to use naked chipboard. I used chipboard photo corners & little extra pieces in between the pictures. At first I was good with leaving them naked. Then, when I went to do the journaling I kept thinking "I could write or draw on the chipboard" and I had to keep reminding myself not to touch it! This was also for the Sisterhood of Scrap's "soup" challenge. This week's "soup" was Chicken Noodle Soup. The recipe was: -Add some striped paper (noodles) -Shades of yellows( chicken) -Brown ink (chicken broth). Thanks for looking! Enjoy!

Bowling lessons

This layout is for the Pagemaps contest. I actually broke out some of the stuff I bought at the Creating Keepsakes convention that Hannah & I went to. There's not much else to say about the LO. The journaling pretty much says it all. I don't know what's up with the dots on the side of the picture. I think it's the stitching program I use. Sorry for the scan! Thanks for looking!

More challenges...

Here are a couple of scrapbook pages I did this weekend for the challenges at Sisterhood of Scrap. These were for their "Back to School Challenge" and they had to be done by the 26th so did them both on Sat. morning. Whew! The first page was for a challenge to use brackets or parentheses on your page. The second page was to use a mix of letters for your title. On a side note - I have filled my third album and am starting on a fourth one (which I won in a blog candy contest). Thanks for looking!

Tire Swing

I made this page for Sisterhood of Scrap's Back to School Crop. This was their
"Reduce" challenge. The guidelines were:

~ use 1 piece of paper for your background (12x12, 8x8, or 8.5x11)
~any number of photos
~2 pieces of cs or pp, or a mix of both (each 6x6 in size, you may leave these as is, or cut or alter them any way you wish)
~letter stickers for the title
~4 embellishments (they can be the same, or any mixture)
~2 types of technique medium (pens for doodling, ink, chalk, shimmerz, Glimmer mist, etc)


I used 2 flowers and 2 buttons as my embellishments and Stickles and a white gel pen as my doodling medium. This was a challenge but fun! Thanks for looking!

Recycled Object

Here is a LO I did this weekend of my brother, Preston, and my nephew, Aaron. I took this picture when I was back visiting in July. I used the Pagemaps sketch for their current contest. I also did this LO for a Sisterhood of Scrap "soup" challenge. One of the soup ingredients was to use a recycled object. My object can be found on the green paper. I used the empty tape roll from my previous post and did some stamping with it. You also had to use 3 different colors of cardstock (I used gray, white and blue). You had to used patterned paper (mine is the green stamped paper), buttons and ribbon or twine. This LO also works for the Scrapping Out Loud! weekly challenge where you had to use a quote on the page and pick one type of word for you journaling. I chose the quote "We find delight in the beauty and happiness of children that makes the heart too big for the body. Ralph Waldo Emerson" I also chose verbs for my journaling: inspire, dream, live, love, laugh, imagine, grow. I am a total English geek so this challenge was perfect for me! I am amazed I was able to do triple duty this weekend! Thanks for looking!
