Design Team

A few weeks ago, I applied for a design team spot on Deanne's blog: Just My Sketches. I found out a couple days ago that I got a spot on the layout team along with 7 other ladies. In addition to a layout team there's also a card sketch team. I'm so excited mainly because this is the first time I've applied for a design team. I'm also excited to work with the other design team members. Sketches are posted on the 1st and 15th so be sure to go and check it out!

Make It Monday

Today's theme on Carla's blog is: Breakfast. So my contribution is a recipe I found on cooks.com for Bisquick Butter Chunk Cinnamon Rolls.

1/4 c. cold butter
2 1/2 c. Bisquick (or any brand) baking mix
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
2 tbsp. butter, softened
3 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Glaze

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Grease square pan, 8x8x2. Cut cold butter into 1/4" cubes. Toss baking mix and cubes until coated. Beat milk and egg; stir into butter mixture. Turn dough onto cloth-covered board generously dusted with baking mix; roll to coat. (I just used my counter covered in baking mix and it worked fine)

Fold and knead 10 times; roll into rectangle, 15"x8". Spread with soft butter. Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over dough. Roll up tightly, beginning at 15" side. Pinch edge into roll. Cut into 12 slices with sharp knife. Place cut sides down in pan.

Bake until golden, 15 minutes; cool 15 minutes. Drizzle with glaze. Makes 1 dozen rolls.

For the glaze, I used 1/4 c. powdered sugar & 2 tsp. warm water.

Born to be Wild

I made this page for a challenge at Sisterhood of Scrap. The challenge was to use the quote "Born to be wild, live to outgrow it" by Doug Horton. I thought of this picture after the challenge was over, of course, but I decided to do a LO anyway. This is a picture of my brothers who decided to climb trees at a family get together. Yes, I will admit that I'm related to them :-)

Make It Monday

Today is "Make It" Monday on Carla's blog. She is also one of the sisters from Sisterhood of Scrap. On Monday's she has a blog carnival where she posts a theme for recipes. Then you post a recipe on your blog. Today's theme is cookies and my recipe is "Quick-Mix Chocolate Cookies." Here's the recipe:

1 box chocolate cake mix (the recipe originally called for Devil's Food, but we made it with chocolate first and liked it)
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1/4 c. sugar

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix cake mix, oil, vanilla, and eggs until dough forms. Shape dough into 1 in. balls, roll in sugar. On an ungreased baking sheet, place balls about 2 in. apart. Bake 10-12 min or until set. Cool 1 min. Remove from baking sheet to cooling rack, cool 30 min (we like them best warm though).

Enjoy!

One Hour layout

I completed this sketch for Sisterhood of Scrap's One Hour Sketch Challenge last night. We had one hour to complete a layout based on a sketch and 20 minutes to upload it. I actually had it completed before the hour was up. I knew what pictures I wanted to use and I had a general idea of what I wanted to do with the page - I just needed the sketch. So, enjoy!

Time to share!

Here is a page I made waaaay back in November for a One-hour sketch challenge at Sisterhood of Scrap. The sketch was posted at a certain time and then you had one hour to finish it. After that, you had 20 minutes to upload it to their site. I haven't printed pictures in awhile, so this was the picture I used on short notice. The journaling says "This is the first picture we have of number 3. Baby Puccini should arrive sometime late July, but for now, I am savoring the feeling of new life. Nov. 21, 2009" Of course I couldn't share this LO anywhere else but the forum because we hadn't told anyone yet. So now that people know, I'm sharing it here. Everybody is really excited! Enjoy the page!
